  • 250g Kunafa dough
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 180g Gulab Jamun mix
  • 150g fresh cream
  • 3 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 5 cardamom pods
  • 1 tsp saffron
  • Chopped pistachios for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar and water to make sugar syrup, stirring until dissolved and boiling.
  2. Remove from heat; add lemon juice, cardamom pods, and saffron. Reserve some syrup for drizzling later.
  3. Prepare Gulab Jamun dough as per package instructions.
  4. Shape small balls from the dough and deep fry until golden brown.
  5. Soak fried Gulab Jamun in prepared syrup for at least 45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 180°C and grease a cupcake baking pan.
  7. Shape Kunafa dough into nests by twisting strips around each other in the cupcake molds.
  8. Bake nests for about 12-15 minutes until golden and crisp.
  9. Assemble by placing nests on a plate, adding cream at the base, topping with Gulab Jamuns, and drizzling with syrup.
  10. Garnish with chopped pistachios before serving.
