Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound sirloin or NY strip steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 8 ounces white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 zucchini, cut into 1/2-inch sticks
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon mirin
  • 1 teaspoon honey

Instructions

  1. Season the steak pieces with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat and cook the steak for about 2-3 minutes per side until browned. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add remaining vegetable oil and sesame oil. Sauté sliced mushrooms and onions for about 4-5 minutes until softened. Add zucchini and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  4. Push vegetables to one side of the pan, melt butter on the other side, and add minced garlic to sauté until fragrant.
  5. Mix soy sauce, mirin, and honey in a bowl; pour into the pan with vegetables. Return cooked steak to the pan, stir everything together, and simmer for another minute before serving.
