  • 360 g butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 30 g unsweetened black cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 90 ml milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 400 g salted butter (for buttercream)
  • 800 g powdered sugar (icing sugar)
  • Electric green food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease baking pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk self-raising flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Beat butter and sugar in another bowl until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients and milk to the wet mixture—blend until combined.
  5. Pour batter into pans and bake for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean; cool completely.
  6. For buttercream, beat salted butter until creamy, mix in powdered sugar and vanilla. Add milk for desired consistency and color with green food coloring.
  7. Cut cooled cake into pieces; layer in jars with green buttercream until filled.
  8. Decorate with fondant shapes and sprinkles.
