  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional for heat)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 small cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • 4 pieces pita bread
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium tomato, diced

  • to taste feta cheese, crumbled, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare tzatziki by mixing Greek yogurt, lemon juice, grated cucumber, dill, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; sauté garlic until fragrant. Add ground beef and cook until browned (5–7 minutes).
  3. Stir in oregano, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes.
  4. Warm pita bread in a skillet or oven.
  5. Assemble gyros by placing beef in pitas and topping with onions, tomatoes, lettuce, and tzatziki.
  6. Garnish with crumbled feta cheese if desired.
