  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 11/2 teaspoons sugar
  • 11/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 cup minced chives
  • 21/4 teaspoons active dry yeast

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, water, sour cream, melted butter, sugar, salt, flour, baking soda, chives, and yeast. Mix until well incorporated.
  2. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover it with a cloth. Let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  4. Punch down the risen dough and shape it into a loaf. Place it on a greased baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Cover again with a cloth and let rise for another 30 minutes until puffy.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the loaf for about 30–35 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and cool on a rack before slicing.
